Cape Roberts - Day 3 (Monday) - Seal pups and big icebergs!

Ok, so there's no surveying photos today, even tho we did check the GPS', and do more surveying round the Cape (I was on the pole most of the time clambering over the rocks- I think my knees ages about 5 years that weekend).

In the afternoon we went for a wander out and around some icebergs that are grounded nearby. It took the better part of an hour to walk around one of them, so it gives some idea of the scale.

Then in the evening again, we went for a walk to look at some seals.

My apologies for the captions below!

Probing the tide crack to check it was safe to get onto the sea-ice.

Walking towards the 'berg.

Tilted ice.

Getting closer.

Sorting out the cameras.

Pretty sweet.

Big crack through the middle.

Heading round the side of it.

Lots of photo oppourtunites.

Wow.

Impressive.

Ian with his probe.

Still walking..

A smaller berg in front.

Berg-on-berg.

Looks like a runny nose to me..

Cracks and tilted bergs.

Pretty blue!

Jumble of ice.

Awesome!

There were all these ice-flakes falling while we were wandering round. Put an amazing texture on the snow which looked like millions of diamonds had been scattered around.

Looking south.

Baby seal heading towards a hole (which it tried to fit down, but its too small).

Wondering why it can't fit.

Giving up, and coming to see what we're up to..

Peek-a-boo..

Isn't it a cutie!?!

This one was also as interested in us as we were in it!
